Yesterday Venezuela celebrated its birthday. So much for freedom in Venezuela. With each day Chavez takes away another freedom from the people of Venezuela. The country is moving in the direction of Cuba.

As Micheal Moore goes off and continues to do biased documentaries of his twisted view of the world, here is some light on the reality of the Cuban Health Care system.

Cuba may have a lot of Doctors but no medicine. So someone can tell you that you have a headache but can't give you an aspirin to fix the problem.

Fred Thompson In the Hot Seat with Cubans

During a rare "campaign" stop in South Carolina the "non-candidate" GOP Presidential candidate tried to assert his conservative credentials to southern voters. The former Tennessee Senator spoke on a variety of subjects, including taxes, iraq and made the horrible mistake of tying illegal immigration with Cuban exiles....

Senator Hillary Clinton quickly attached Fred Thompson, stating:

"I was appalled when one of the people running for or about to run for the Republican nomination talked about Cuban refugees as potential terrorists," Clinton told Hispanic elected officials. "Apparently he doesn't have a lot of experience in Florida or anywhere else, and doesn't know a lot of Cuban-Americans."

Hillary has been the candidate, on either political side, to obtain the most Hispanic support. Clearly she capitalized on the opportunity to obtain extra brownie points in the Cuban community, where her husband is loathed because of Elian Gonzalez and the Wet Foot Dry Foot Policy.

Soon after the Clinton statement, Thompson posted on his campaign blog saying he had been referring to Cuban spies, not immigrants. "Our national security is too important an issue to let folks twist words around for a one-day headline," Thompson said in his post. "Cuban-Americans are among the staunchest opponents of illegal immigration, and especially so when it's sponsored by the Castro regime."

The gaffe by Thompson was a mistake, he must have misspoke, yet you must wonder, who if anyone, is counseling him on the diverse Hispanic community and the Cuban-American constituency.

Thompson, who has become a conservative blog regular, has a long history of being hard on Fidel Castro and supporting Cuban exiles. Earlier this year he had a virtual fight with Micheal Moore. Thompson was attacking Moore's Sicko, for its erroneous portrayal of the Cuban health care system.

House Tries To Lift Cuban Embargo

For the first time in approximately a decade, Flake, Delahunt, Rangel and Co. were unable to present any Cuba travel and embargo amendments to this year's Treasury Appropriations (now called Financial Services Appropriations) bill. This historic endeavour results from procedural obstacles, and the OVERWHELMING BIPARTISAN SUPPORT shown last week - despite strong pressure from Flake and Delahunt - for the Cuban opposition in the Foreign Ops Appropriations bill (by a vote of 254-170).

This is a truly historic endeavour, as these bills have been the SOLE VEHICLE for attempts to alter Cuba policy, and an unqualified message that we shall not rest until human rights, fundamental freedoms and democracy prevail for the Cuban people.

Fred Vs. Moore on Castro

The virtual swords have come out and Fred Thompson and Micheal Moore are engaged in a full battle over CUBA. Moore is currently being investigated by the Treasury Department for his trip to Cuba, which violates U.S. trade embargo restrictions.

Recently the presidential hopeful, former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson, attacked Micheal Moore for "gushing" over dictator Fidel Castro. In response the liberal film maker challenged Thompson to a debate.

According to the NY Daily News:

Filmmaker Michael Moore is calling out White House hopeful Fred Thompson for refusing to debate him. The director and the former senator have been trading shots since May 2, when Thompson weighed in on the Treasury Department's investigation into whether Moore violated the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba by seeking free treatment on the Communist isle for sick 9/11 responders....

Moore, who filmed the trip for "Sicko," his forthcoming cinematic indictment of America's health care, yesterday returned fire in an open letter that pointed to Thompson's fondness for Cuban-made Montecristo cigars.

"While I will leave it up to the conservatives to debate your hypocrisy and the Treasury Department to determine whether the 'box upon box of cigars' violates the trade embargo, I hereby challenge you to a health care debate," Moore wrote in a letter posted on the Drudge Report.....

Thompson responded to Moore's attack with a video message, where he is seen holding a cigar. Click here to watch Fred Thompson's video response to Moore. (posted on breitbart.tv) In the video Thompson says:

"I've been looking at my schedule, Michael, and I don't think I have time for you," the GOP candidate said. "But I may be the least of your problems. You know, the next time you're down in Cuba visiting your buddy Castro, you might ask them about another documentary filmmaker. His name was Nicolas Guillen [Landrian]. He did something Castro didn't like, and they put him in a mental institution for several years, giving him devastating electroshock treatments. A mental institution, Michael, might be something you ought to think about."

In a written response to Moore, Thompson also pointed out that the Communist dictator, Fidel Castro, is worth $900 million. And stated "So when he desperately needed medical treatment recently, he could afford to fly a Spanish surgeon, with equipment, on a chartered jet to Cuba. What does that say about free Cuban health care?"

On a personal note I can't help but LOVE this debate. It brings to light the 48 years of tragedy occurring in Cuba and liberal idiots who "adore" the Cuban dictator. It brings great joy that Thompson spoke about Cuban political prisoners. I hope more people read about these victims of the communist revolution.

Giuliani Oultines Immigration

Today RNHA members were on hand to hear former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani at the Latino Coalition's summit in Washington D.C.. The presidential candidate outlined his plan for immigration reform.

Giuliani discussed tamper-proof ID cards for new immigrants and workers, a border fence with both electronic and a physical elements, and a pathway to citizenship for undocumented workers calling for immigrants to pay penalties, back taxes, and learn English in order to gain legalized status.

From The Hill:

"...U.S. immigration policy demands a complex answer that should include “We have to look at illegal immigration from the point of view of what makes America more secure,” Giuliani said.

He also advocated establishing a database of all immigrants, saying the U.S. needs a “system that identifies people and why they’re coming here.”

Having 12 million undocumented immigrants in the country “makes it easier for
terrorists and drug-dealers to hide,” said

Giuliani, who is the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination. According
to the former mayor, lowering that number would make it easier to find
terrorists.

Giuliani wants undocumented workers to come forward and claim citizenship “if they’re making an honest contribution.” He added that adherence to American ideals is what makes an American citizen, and that those who have come to the U.S. to make an honest living should be afforded official citizenship. Giuliani stopped short of
calling this “amnesty,” however.

Also at the Latino Coalition Summit was actress Maria Conchita Alonso who decried the action's of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. The actress/activist talked about some of her political work in the the Venezuelan elections and a movies ("Two Minutes of Hate") she has produced showcasing the political realities of the Venezuelan country that is moving in a socialist direction.

Giuliani, who followed Alonso, also denounced Chavez and Castro and called them a real threat.

No Castro, No problem

Cuban communist dictator, Fidel Castro, was a no show at the May Day march in Havana, Cuba. The 80 year old leader has been a no show on the island since his emergency intestinal surgery nine months ago which forced him to step down. read more

The Axis of Evil Alive and Well

Our friends at Babalu Blog reported that on Monday Raul Castro, Communist Cuba's acting president, voiced his strong support for Iran's its pursuit for peaceful nuclear activities. The younger Castro stated support for Iran was "among his country's fixed policies."

Raul's Concern For Iran:

Castro made the remark in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki before the latter wound up his week-long visit to Latin American states.

Cuba will stand shoulder to shoulder with Iran in the face of any threat, Castro stressed.

Rommney bungles speech to Cubans in Miami

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, former Gov. of Massachusetts, has been working hard courting Hispanic voters.

He created a Latin American Policy Advisory Group. He was the first candidate to launch Spanish radio ads and has a full Spanish web page.

It also doesn't hurt that he has some good people on his staff, including Al Cardenas, former Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida and Alex Burgos, former Deputy Press Secretary for the NRCC whose specialty is Spanish Media.

But much of his work with the Hispanic community might be in jeopardy because of one bad line! During a recent trip to South Florida to strengthen support withing the Cuban-American community Romney said the wrong thing. During his trip in Miami he kinda minced words and possibly alienated some in the hard-line Cuban American voting block, who take all things related to Fidel Castro very seriously!!

The Miami Herald's article "Presidential candidate bungles speech in Miami" clearly details the slip of the tongue that went down harder then Castro's falling on his face.

"But when mistakenly associated Fidel Castro's trademark speech-ending slogan -- Patria o muerte, venceremos! -- with a free Cuba, listeners didn't laugh. They winced.

Castro has closed his speeches with the phrase -- in English, ''Fatherland or death, we shall overcome'' -- for decades.

'Clearly, that's something he was ill-advised on or didn't do his homework on,'' said Hialeah City Council President Esteban Bovo. ``When you get cute with slogans, you get yourself into a trap."
